This video does a pretty neat job of making David Harvey‘s lecture for the Royal Society for the Arts a bit easier to understand. In addition to giving a pretty fair picture of the difficult nature of explaining the current economic crisis, it also includes an argument for joining anti-capitalist organizations. ANY anti-capitalist organization. While Harvey himself is a Marxist, his argument is that a diversity of tactics is required, so any anti-capitalist organization is a good one.
Anyway, enough from us, enjoy the video!
Some footage of a police raid from this February, where a local SWAT Team (more on that to follow) served a warrant, killed two dogs, and found enough pot for personal consumption so the only charge they had was misdemeanor possession (not even enough for intent to distribute). Looking for justification for the expensive raid, they added Child Endangerment as well, citing the homeowner’s 7 year old was in the same room as the hash.
Because you know, a joint is going to make the kid’s world view demented. Jack-booted demi-fascists kicking in the door, gunning down his beloved childhood pets, and then hauling his parents off over said joint, thats fine. Builds character! But the joint its self, now thats dangerous.
Now one of those dogs was a pit bull, and you know what, I get it. Pit Bulls get a bad rap much the same way capitalists do. Sure they aren’t ALL evil incarnate, but enough of them are that you have to be careful. But the other pup was a Corgie. Thats right, these trained para-military operatives were afraid of this. Right.
Who are todays pirates and emporers?

Nah, I’d rather go to school and learn that “an” goes before words that start with vowels. (GrammarNazi’s on vacation and I’m filling in.)

I didn’t think the second one was all that catchy either, but a comment like that doesn’t really add anything of value

After the University of California Board of Regents decided to approve a 32% tuition increase, students have been in an uproar. Reports say that Campbell Hall is currently being occupied by 40-50 students, and that police are using tasers and nightsticks to keep protesting students and faculty at bay outside of Covel Commons, where the Regents are meeting.

Watch Golden Rule: The Investment Theory of Politics
“A most important project” -Noam Chomsky, Institute professor MIT
“I like it a lot…[its] segments ‘move’ [and] are both appropriate to the themes and hold the viewer’s interest.” -Thomas Ferguson, UMass professor
“…excellent” -David Cromwell, editor medialens
This film is largely based on Thomas Ferguson’s book Golden Rule. Many people appear in it, but it is based primarily on a 5 hour interview I conducted with Ferguson (with the help of 2 fellow youtubers), and on numerous appearances & interviews of Noam Chomsky. The film offers an in depth look at business influence on politics–analyzing social forces and events that the corporate media and mainstream scholarship has largely distorted or kept hidden. It also analyzes the meaning of democracy.

Because this:
“Upper class; Those with great influence, wealth and prestige. Members of this group tend to act as the grand-conceptualizers and have tremendous influence of the nation’s institutions. This class makes up about 1% of the population and owns about a third of private wealth.”
Is a very primitive way to live.

Somehow Jesse Ventura comes off as the voice of reason here. I am not sure what I am most excited about. My favorite professional wrestler turned independent quasi-socialist governor, someone shutting down another yammering semi-fascist idiot, or maybe it is Jesse’s “Balding Eagle” mullet.
Either way “The Body” puts on a master class for shutting down people who don’t know what they are talking about. Stick to your guns, don’t make concessions you don’t need to, and never let them steer the conversation onto a reef.
